About

Our Mission

Honolulu Wire is an independent online news publication covering the people, places, politics, and culture of Honolulu and the island of Oahu. We deliver timely, accurate reporting on the stories that matter most to our community — from City Council decisions and infrastructure developments to the local restaurants, events, and cultural traditions that make life in Hawaii unique.

Our goal is to keep residents informed, connected, and engaged with the issues shaping their neighborhoods and their island.

What We Cover

Our reporting spans local government and politics, real estate and development, business and economy, food and dining, arts and culture, environment and sustainability, education, sports, events, and community life across Oahu. Whether it’s a new rail extension, a 75-year-old saimin stand, or a public hearing on property taxes, we believe local journalism is essential to a healthy community.
